Place Masséna, the old Nice, the Castle Hill…  Discover all the places you should absolutely visit during your stay, to know everything about the beautiful city of Nice ! The Hotel Brice Garden gives you 10 reasons to spend your holidays in Nice.

1. Place Masséna

Cross the Place Masséna to enjoy the sun during the day or the light buddhas in the evening !
This place of the city centre of Nice, located only a few minutes from the Hotel Brice Garden Nice, has been named after the man from Nice André Masséna, Marshal of the Empire of Napoleon I. Renovated in 2007, it features nowadays a wonderful checkerboard floor and is bounded by the Promenade du Paillon in the east, the Fontaine du Soleil in the south, the Albert I Garden in the West and the Avenue Jean Médecin in the north.

2. Promenade du Paillon

The Promenade du Paillon, or Coulée verte (“Green corridor”) is a place which is very appreciated by the inhabitants fromNice as by the tourists. It extends over 1.2km between the Place Massena and the National Theatre of Nice. It bears the name of the river that flowed there before being covered, during the 19th century, to make the city cleaner.

Between the areas of grass, the trees and the benches, children have fun in the playground or refresh themselves in the water mirror.

The promenade is a peaceful place where to take a rest between two visits.

3. Promenade des Anglais

Two steps from the Old Nice, it offers a stunning panorama on the Bay of Angels and the Mediterranean Sea. Go for a walk and take a sit on the famous blue chairs facing the sea, before coming back to your 3-star hotel in the heart of Nice to take a rest !

This long avenue along the sea, extended by the Quai des Etats-Unis in the east, had been the place where the English tourists strolled from the 19th century. So it took its name from these walkers spending their winters in the beautiful city of Nice, and its building has even been funded by one of them, the Reverend Lewis Way.

4. Old town of Nice and the Cours Saleya

The Old Nice, vielha vila in Niçard dialect, is a place you can’t miss in every stay in the city of Nice. Close to the Hotel Brice Garden, the old town represents the antic city of Nice, where the Greeks settled during the 4th century B.C.

This typical district with ochre buildings is full of small traditional shops or more modern ones, so you can buy a lot of souvenirs before leaving. Also go to the Cours Saleya, where the food, the artisanal and the flower markets will surely seduce you !

Wander in the narrow alleys of the Old Nice, you’ll be dazzled by its authentic charm.

5. Castle Hill

If the Castle of Nice is no longer visible today because it had been destroyed in 1706 by the troops of King Louis XIV, the view that it left remains fantastic. Enjoy the panorama on the Bay of Angels on one side and on the port of Nice on the other side and take a walk in the park of the Castle Hill. This green area overlooking Nice is two steps from the old town but remains incredibly calm in any season.

6. Cimiez hill : the arenas, the park, the Matisse Museum and the monastery

Go for a stroll in Cimiez during your stay : the antic arenas of Cimiez, the Archaeological Museum and the Matisse Museumare a few metres of one another. In front of the lovely villa that hosts the Matisse Museum, a vast olive grove extends, in where the inhabitants from Nice like to picnic or to play petanque on the weekends.

On the other side of this park, the Cimiez monastery has been erected and its garden offers a unique panorama on all the east part of Nice, from the mountains to the sea. Incredible !

7. Mont Boron

Further down the Mont Alban, where a fort has been built, the Mont Boron is a hill in the east of Nice and which overlooks the city of Nice as well as Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat. You can enjoy a unique panorama from the wide park of the Mont Boron then.

A residential district has been constructed on its side, which is made up of a lot of luxurious villas.

To discover this magic place, you can take the bus or the car, or the touristic bus of Nice, which goes between the villas !

8. The museums of Nice

Nice is full of museums. Among the most famous of the city : the Matisse museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Chagall museum...

Have cultural holidays in the beautiful city of Nice and discover all the museum of Nice !

The Saint Nicolas cathedral is a jewel of architecture that had been erected between 1903 and 1912, because of the presence of a huge Russian community in Nice.

This cathedral with red and white walls is the biggest building of this type outside Russia and has been classified as Historical Monument since 1987. The interior is richly decorated with all its icons, frescos and other golden religious objects.
